Faithful To Believe!

December 3, 2009

October 2nd marked a great day in Gospel Music as Verity Music Group released two dynamic artist in industry, Byron Cage and Rizen.

Me all dolled up before the event!

I had the opportunity to talk with RiZen before their official release and also had the opportunity to rock it out with Byron Cage and Dr. Deborah Smith Pollard or passionately known as Dr. Deb of Detroit’s FM 98 WJLB as she celebrated 15 years in Gospel Music. Indeed, what a blessing!

The  event was held at one of Detroit’s uprising ministries , Triumph Church at their East location on E. Grand Blvd. Triumph is Pastored by Pastor Solmon Kinloch. Before the event, the media as well as VIP guest were invited to a VIP Reception in both in Dr. Deb’s honor.

Kiwi and I

The reception was filled with great food and awesome fellowship. Bryon Cage and Dr. Deb did an awesome job making all media as well as contest winners feel welcome!

Special guest performances by Kiwi, Mahogany Jones, God’s Army and God’s Little Soldiers. Special Guest Appearances by LaShell Griffin and The Famous Peggy James to name a few.

Got the opportunity kick it with some my favs!! See pics above and below!

I’m About My Business!!! Kingdom BUSINESS!!!

August 25, 2009
Hey all you faithful readers!! This will be a double feature! Not only will be review the Canton Jones concert from Sunday 8.23 but it will also feature the release of CaJo and the fam’s latest cd entitled ” Kingdom Business II”.
This Sunday was action packed with a full line up of local artist setting the stage for Canton at DWO’s The Vault.
Detroit’s Bro. Dre mcee’d the event has everyone on their feet ( literally) all night long. Even had an entourage of youth and young adults on the stage!
Canton hit the stage and the fans went crazy! It was great to see him back in Detroit, indeed to long of a wait…
He ministered his like ” Holy Ghost Girl”, ” Love” and new hits such as “G.O.D.”, “One Mic.. ” from his newly release album “Kingdom Business II.
I even got an opportunity to kick up with him for a minute! Missed my big bro!
Overall, Great Event MustardSeed Generation!
Now on to the review!
In my all honest opinion, I truly believe that this cd should have released at the beginning of the summer. YES, you have guessed it.. ITS A BANGER!!!
Songs like “Echo”, “Swaggin” and  “5 Seconds” will play on REPEAT on  your ipod or stereo! The production quality on this cd is bananas..This cd is giving mainstream a run for their money, indeed its time!
CaJo placed a spin on the classic “Great Things”, which is guarnteed to get every person young or old up and dancing, praising God for the great things he has done for them.
Canton Jones song entitled ” Top Model” is what I like to call a secequal to ” Holy Ghost Girl”. The song expresses how God loves and sees us as his Top Models and how even the fellas see the Women of God as true Top Models. This song really expresses the things that God sees in each and every woman but from the personal view of the Man. GREAT STUFF!!!
I dont want to spoil the cd for those of you who haven’t gotten it yet.. its most definetely a BANGER! Please GO COP IT!

Bold Right Life… What life are you living?

Dr. Dell Rocking The Mic... Wednesday Night at BRL

This past week has been really hectic for me, but in a good way. I have had the opportunity to attend the Bold Right Life Conference at Greater Emmanuel Instiutional Church of God In Christ hosted by none other than Detroit’s own Kierra Kiki Sheard.

The conference featured some of gospel Music greats, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Holy Hip Hop Artist Mr. Dell and Tye Tribett. Along with Prophetess Janice  Floyd and Pastor Jonathon Miller.

This week I was only able to attend two nights the Saturday night concert featuring Detroit’s own, Kierrra “KiKi” Sheard , 21:03, J Moss,  R&B and Jazz Diva Lalah Hathaway and Gospel Music great, Donald Lawrence.

The first night started off with Bishop Hezekiah Walker as he ministered on having a Cry in your spirit and not holding in your Cry but letting it out. Mr. Dell minister the same night, hyping the youth to live on fire for God. Had everyone doing

The Third Night was filled with worship as Min. Tye Tribett hit the hearts of the people with a life changing sermon, encouraging attendees to take a stand and GET SET in the things of God. Don’t weaver, let others detour you away, GET SET.  Tye even amazed us as he handed the microphone back Kierra, hopped on the organ and rocked it out with the band. The night ended with a shed featuring Tye and the conference band.

Youth were surrounded around the shed with camera phones tapping this monumental moment in their lives!

Saturday nights conference was indeed great! Although it started later than expected, God’s presence was sure on time. With Praise and worship laid by Detroit’s own Shana Wilson ( PLEASE GO AND GET HER CD.. REVIEW TO COME) singing songs like my personal favorite ” Press In His Presence”, with opening acts from the Detroit as well as Chicago area. PAJAM’s newly signed hip hop artist, Chris Clark took the stage with “Walk on Water” ( great to see you again little bro), 21:03 hit the stage with their hits ” You” and my fav. “Cover Me” with group member Evan leading the congregation into worship.

Just when you thought the PAJAM camp was through, J MOSS hit the stage with peep this, Karen and KiKi on backgrounds! Can we say a true treat! It in deed was a family affair! J Moss sang songs from his cd that will be released on 8.25.09 “Just James”, “Restored” as he told his personal restoration testimony & many others.

Just when you thought the night was whining down, Lalah Hathaway hit the stage requesting to perform with no shoes on. She has been singing barefeet for 20 years now! WOW! that is a long time! She talked to the congregation about how she knows singing is her calling and this was the are a of ministry God had call her to do, in her own way.  Now readers, this does not mean she is going Gospel.  She sang a song written by Donald Lawrence that was truly a gospel track and then did a lil improv with the band singing “Summertime”.

Congregants stood all around the sanctuary. Truly an experience for all!

Kierra took the stage after Lalah jokingly asking her father if she could take her shoes off too. Maybe she can sing just like Lalah! The crowd laughed. She  sang “Wave Your Banner”, “Love Like Crazy” and tear jerker ” Invisble” with the crowds participation.

The BRL choir ended it out singing background vocals for ” Invisible” as well as singing with Donald Lawrence on ” The Law of Confession” and “Back to Eden”.

Overall , The BRL experience had everyone hype and it truly was a treat! Thanks Kierra for another great and anointed conference. Many lives were set free!

DWYL Hits Detroit..Leaving A Mark!

July 26, 2009

Lights.. Smoke.. Bass.. Loud screaming fans from Chicago, Ohio and most importantly DETROIT filled the 3000 capacity Fellowship Chapel located off 7707 W. Outer Drive in Detroit, Mich.

Shouts of praise, hands in worship went all throughout the building from the youngest to the oldest as Reach Records Artist, Lecrae, Trip Lee, Tedashii , Sho Baraka and Cross Movement Records Artist, Flame hit the stage in their own individual ways. Lecrae hit fans with tracks from his recently released album “Rebel”, with Classics from his debut Cd “After The Music Stops” with “Jesus Musik”.

The recent newlywed Trip Lee hit the stage with songs from his cd “20/20″, which focuses on inviting the listener to see God clearly, 20/20 Vision.. Tedashii hit the fans with HOT FIRE off of his recently released album entitled ” Identity Crisis”. . the title says it all.. with tracks such as ” Make War” and “I’m  A Believer”.

Sho Baraka hit the stage with tracks from his cd entitled ” and Flame slapped fans with tracks from “Redeemed”, including everyone’s favorite “Joyful Noise”.

The night was filled with youth and the young at heart lifting hands and shouting lyrics, but most importantly being ministered to. Each song had a message and ended with an alter of young adults committing to live their lives “Out Loud” for Jesus. The Reach Artist placed left their hearts on the stage to make sure that the people were ministered to. It was most definitely a life changing experience for all. This was one concert that left me speakless.

Got a chance to kick it with The Man behind Christian Manifesto himself, Mr. C.E. Moore! See Pic below!

Exposure: This is who I am .. MWj

May 20, 2009

I know it has been a long time since I did a review. Sorry readers! I have been extremely busy!

On April 25th, Detroiters received a dose of who M2 Entertainment recording artist, Marvin Winans Jr. really was. Coming from a gospel renowned family, Mwj really brought the fire at the April 25th event ” Image of A Man”.

MWJ sings

Detroit based dj and event production company, Friendship Productions set MWj up on style as they featured him for their April event. Hosted at the Upper Room, the event brought in 100 fans as they celebrated the release of Mwj’s cd. Along with Mwj, the night featured local gospel hip hop artist Leveitcal Priesthood.

I was overall pleased with the crowd participation during the event. Everyone brought forth an energy and a level of excitement that was well needed for the hometown artist.

During his set, Mwj really exposed himself letting his fans know a little about his life, his trials, tribulations, past and current victories. Believe me, if you didn’t know who MWJ was or didn’t have a CLUE about what the cd was all about by the end of the night, YOU DID!

MWJ really left the fans with a feeling and better yet an understanding of what being made in the likeness and image of God was really and how we are to be the ” Image of a Man” – “Made in the image of God”

MWJ even wowed fans by playing ” Mistakes”, featured on his self debut cd on  grand piano at the Upper Room. By far, that was the highlight of the night for me.

He also hit fans with songs from his cd such as ” Believe”, ” Come to Me”, “Love Last”, and his hit single ” You Never Let Me Down” which featured his cousin, Tim Bowman Jr.

Overall… the night was indeed the ” Image of A Man” and displayed ” the Image of God”.

Great Job Friendship Productions and MWj!

T.Marie and Mwj after the event

Until next time!

The Alternative.. That’s Wassup!

April 20, 2009

Who’s at it..? He’s about 6’2, Muscular, Fashion Savvy and rocks a Red Hair Fro Hawk… With whom am I speaking of? No other than DJ L-Boog, that’s who’s at it!

lboog
Packed with power behind his turntables, the master DJ is at it again! This past weekend (4.17.09), he hosted The Alternative at The Upper Room located on Grand River and Telegraph.

The Alternative served an album release party for upcoming local talent, Russ Dae for is newly release ” State of Emergency”. The Alternative featured other artist such as Kisma J. Nikki B. and M-80! Equipped with a live house band, L Boog and the Alternative shut it down.

The night was filled with energy and excitement and really exciplified the Christian Entertainment lifestyle.

Packed with excitement and dare to say an agrnaline rush, Russ Dae really hyped the crowd, and gave the people what they wanted. Through the years, I have seen artist with stage presence and lack there of.. indeed i can say that Russ Dae has it.

The band behind his postive, upbeat and catchy lyrics had the crowd bobbing their heads and even waving cellphones in the air.

The cd is a must have for any collection!

Oh and I can’t forget Kisma, this girl can SANG.. not sing.. but SANG!! She laid down the vocals so strong and KILLED ” You Loved Me” the Jesus version! Low key in my eyes.. blew KiKi and Karen out the water.. This Girls Range is Amazing! I believe she will go very far!

Overall The Alternative is where its at! The 18+ crowd have another place to get down and live out the Christian Entertainment lifestyle.

Great job, L Boog!
