December 31, 2009

Hey Fellow Music Lovers..

It has been a minute since I have hit you with some great reviews from some great artist. The wait is over and I AM BACK!

Based out of Gary, IN this hot and new artist in on the move for Christ. This artist has a sound that is a mix between the north and the south. He’s a combination of  a northern feel with a Southern flare!

Dedicated to living the Christ driven life, PointAsh remains committed to serving God and bringing 100 Proof Hip Hop with a Christ twist to the masses.

“PointAsh”‘s name is derived from the word Point, which is a direction attention to or indicate the presence or position of something.  Also, the Word Ash, a derivative of the word Asher, which is the name of one of the 12 tribes of Israel meaning “Happy”. So all together is means someone who is excited about directing anyone to the True King and Master of the Universe, Jesus Christ ( nice little history lesson for you guys :))

Indeed his music takes each listener into a place where they can evaluate and culivate their relationships with Christ as well as placing each listener in remembrance of why we do what we do for Christ. It’s a lifestyle. PointAsh’s music is Lifestyle Music!

With songs such as, 100 Proof Christ, highlighting PointAsh’s mission of directing listeners to Chirst, promoting listeners being “high off of Christ”. As he kindly puts it, ” I know they not going to like this”, but indeed through the other tracks on his cd, he kindly directs listeners into why they MUST understand where he is coming from! PointAsh gives glory to God with song ” All Hail 2 the Kang”, speaking of the characteristics and idenity of Christ.

The album entitled ” Sight Beyond Sight” features one of my favorites on the album ” My L.O.V.E.”, which is a love song about his love relationship with the Father and the purpose of  the Father’s love for us.

If you will be at all the Stellar Award events, make sure you make it to the Stellar After Party “Urban Cafe Access Granted” hosted by Rare Entertainment’s Carlos Hale. Click the flyer below for more information! Point Ash will be rippin he mic!

Let Them Be Your Lifeguard…

December 29, 2009

Birthed out of Oklahoma, this group is made up of 6 Oral Roberts University students on fire for Christ. I have not only had the opportunity to hear them, but get to know some of their members personally and I love their spirit and vibe.

Kenny Mack, Robert Butler, Ronnie Mills, Julian Martin, Aaron Grace, Christian Scott and Isaiah Rachel became more than group members, they became brothers has time progressed. The group takes delight and interest in providing listeners with quality music that is intended to make a listener place each song on repeat.

The quality of their music, beats and content gives listeners the exact alternative that they to what’s being placed on mainstream radio today. Their debut EP entitled “Resuscitation” features some track sampling, yet the content makes the listener look past the sample and into the message conveyed through the song.

I personally find it great to hear from artist who are willing to take a stand for Christ and not ashamed to let the world know.

One of my personal favorites on the EP are “Go Hard (Kingdom version)”, which encourages the listener to go hard for Christ, serving him until the end. My second favorite and each listener will agree, is “Lifeguard”.

“Lifeguard” the title song that helped develop the group “Lifeguard”. The song is a love song to all young ladies, Christian and non Christian alike, on the charteristics and integrity of a real Man and how the real man will save them, (hence the name “Lifeguard”) from their bad relationships.

Overall, Great Demo fellas! I look forward to the debut cd!

October 8, 2009
Born into one of the Gospel industries most influential families,  Kierra “KiKi” Sheard is at it again as she just releases her latest album entitled “Kiki’s Mixtape”.
Being the music countersoure that I am, I was on edge awaiting  the release on this cd. I as many of you didn’t know what to expect from Kierra this time around. I personally was still marinating and meditating (wait.. it’s that the same thing LOL) off of her “This is Me” and ” Bold Right Life” albums.
The cd is filled with a collections of everyone’s favorites, ” I Want Back”, ” Why Me” ” Love Like Crazy”. KiKi hit the fans with a taste of what’s to come with new songs ” Teach Me”,  “Sing To The Lord” and Christmas favorite “This Christmas”. The cd also has a Monsta Mix of “Wave Your Banner” that will have you on your two feet, waving your banner in the air! Indeed a song that HAS to be on your iPod workout mix!
With the new release of her mixtape, the forming of her clothing line ” MAMAJIK”, making herself into a household name. I am highly anticipating the next release and more from Kierra!

Real.. Just.. REAL

September 11, 2009

With hits like “Personal Jesus”, “Bout A Thang”, “Fail U”, “God Has Not 4Got”, “Make Me Over”or most recently “Blend” and “Joy”, Tonex has been none as one of the most controversial yet, life changing artist in the Gospel industry.

Now, I know some of you are thinking .. “Did T.Marie just say life changing?” and I am going on record to say YES LIFE CHANGING!! The internet, social media sites,  phone lines, BBM messengers have been buzzing since the latest interview with Tonex has been released on The Word Network by Gospel Artist Lexi. ( By the way, great job Lex, I know that there had to be a lot of pressure on you while you were conducting it)!

I personally thought it was very thorough interview that really hit the facts on what people always wondered and shared within their circles, searching for the truth.

Despite the information that was displayed in the interview regarding him being attracted to men or views on homosexuality , the man is still that…A MAN! I also must add that he is a MAN OF GOD. The Word of God says that the call of God is without repentance. So my statement about his music being life changing, is correct. The anointing of God that is upon the man when he wrote those songs is still upon him TODAY. I can truly say his songs, especially on the ” OUT THE BOX” album, has really ministered to my heart and helped me in my college years.

Now, do I believe that this interview was a call for help? YES! It was said in the interview that he has “received deliverance”, went to deliverance services and clearly came out feeling the same BUT he is waiting on God to see “where he is going to take this”. This is just T.Marie, but I believe that you have to make a decision if you want to be freed first, and as this man has stated he is still “struggling”, which means this was his open call.

As I am writing this, I am listening to “Out The Box” in tears because it still to this day, hits my heart and ministers to me in so many ways.. Once again.. the call WITHOUT REPENTANCE!

I personally feel his tranparency was REAL and was NEEDED, especially in the body of Christ. At times things are always covered versus being addressed and providing results. Now, what we do from hearing this is our next move. When we get to heaven, we will be held accountable for the information that was given in this  interview. So my question is, “What are you going to do now?”

We pray for his deliverance. We pray that God deals with his heart and the “struggle” he speaks of and most importantly… WE LOVE ON HIM!

I’ll leave you with this..

Canton hit the stage and the fans went crazy! It was great to see him back in Detroit, indeed to long of a wait…
He ministered his like ” Holy Ghost Girl”, ” Love” and new hits such as “G.O.D.”, “One Mic.. ” from his newly release album “Kingdom Business II.
I even got an opportunity to kick up with him for a minute! Missed my big bro!
Overall, Great Event MustardSeed Generation!
Now on to the review!
In my all honest opinion, I truly believe that this cd should have released at the beginning of the summer. YES, you have guessed it.. ITS A BANGER!!!
Songs like “Echo”, “Swaggin” and  “5 Seconds” will play on REPEAT on  your ipod or stereo! The production quality on this cd is bananas..This cd is giving mainstream a run for their money, indeed its time!
CaJo placed a spin on the classic “Great Things”, which is guarnteed to get every person young or old up and dancing, praising God for the great things he has done for them.
Canton Jones song entitled ” Top Model” is what I like to call a secequal to ” Holy Ghost Girl”. The song expresses how God loves and sees us as his Top Models and how even the fellas see the Women of God as true Top Models. This song really expresses the things that God sees in each and every woman but from the personal view of the Man. GREAT STUFF!!!
I dont want to spoil the cd for those of you who haven’t gotten it yet.. its most definetely a BANGER! Please GO COP IT!

Just James….

August 25, 2009
If I had to describe this cd in 2 words it would be Growth and Restoration, Hence the name of the new single released “Restored” off of J Moss latest album entitled “Just James”.
“Just James” takes the listener into what I call J Moss own personal prayer closet and allows the listener to not only experience James but experience their own personal personal encounter with God!
“Anointing” is what I call a modern day version of The Clark Sisters “Endow Me”, filled with a strong bass, drum and organ not to mention the killer chords on the keyboard!
PAJAM outdid themselves with the production of this one! Totally compariable to anything that is on mainstream radio! Great Job PAJAM!
“Rebuild” is a song of strength and repentance that allows the listener to get into the presence of God requesting that he rebuild them back to the state that he has called them to be.
The production on the title track “Just James” is SICK… it really allows the listener to take an inside look of Just James.. Outside of the gospel fame, the lights, the glamour.. its all about ministry and him just being JAMES!
This cd really shows the transformation of J Moss, takes the listener into his own personal life, his encounter with God and the restoration process. I believe this cd is a great example of strength and restoration!
Great Job J!
